At Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, Ridgerield, WA you must stay inside your car, driving on a 4.1 mile road around the refuge. I decided this was a good chance to see how my Nikon V1 equipped with the FT1 and Nikor 70 - 300 mm lens compared to my D90 with the Nikor 300mm f/4 and the 1.4 TC.

When I had the opportunity I would take shots with both cameras. Unfortunately I did not have the clock set correctly on the V1 so the times differ by about an hour.

I repeated this experiment when I was in Ocean Shores photographing the Snow Owls.

The EXIF information is included. The V1 was set on P mode with pattern metering, and auto WB and ISO. The D90 was set to Shutter Priority and auto WB and ISO. All photos were shot in RAW and converted in Lightroom 4.2 using Camera Standard. I did minimal tweaking in light room. Since the V1 consistently had a cooler WB than I like, I generally modified it to be the same as the D90.

So which was the winner? I couldn't decide on looking at the photos since some looked better with one and some with the other.
