On June 4, 2016, at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, I saw a Clark's Grebe with 3 chicks on her back. (I will assume it was the female). Several times the male brought fish for the chicks. There were also several other Clark's Grebe and a few Westerns in the area, but the three chicks were the only chicks in sight. The other Grebe would occasionally get too close and one of the pair would chase them off. At one point, one of the Western Grebe approached with a feather in its bill. Less than 2 minutes later, it or another Western Grebe approached with a fish which it gave to one of the Clark's Grebe chicks that came rushing over.
